Larry, Lost my email addresses with new software upgrade. Wondering if you would be available to play guitar with Jim at Maple Grove this weekend. He fell and got hurt in April and has not played since 23rd. He is going to chiropracter, and trying to get motion back and thinks he is ready. I just am not good enough to be the only player with him…
Will you even be there? What day(s)
Pat
Patty,
I will play along. At this point, I can’t say when I will be there except, I am to play on Friday at 7:30; Saturday @1:50 and Sunday @ 3:00 for sure. I am sure others will ask me to play along too if I am there when they are scheduled. Weather will help determine if I make it on any given day. I haven’t heard any long range forecast as of yet. Why not call and schedule for Saturday, at least for as close to that time as possible. Let me know via e-mail if you have a time lined up.
Brent,
The Armstrong County Tourist Bureau (Type in for their site) has the limited- edition prints prints. If you want an artist proof I do. 481 Butler Road, Kittanning, PA 16201. My actual web site will be up and running soon.
Any more questions, please, contact me.
Larry, I noticed your Father’s Day entry and took a peek. It brought tears to my eyes. I truly understand how you feel on Father’s Day since that is exactly how I feel on Mother’s Day. My mother passed very suddenly without a chance to say good-bye so that has made the day difficult. I also have no children (just Dana’s children who I helped him raise) so I cannot experience the day from that perspective either.
I have a print of a wild turkey titled ” Springtime Majesty”. I would like to know what year is was made and for what organization it was done. I have it in a beautiful frame and it is a great print. It is the 70th print out of 100. Do you have any idea of its value ? Is there any information you could tell me about the print ? What inspired you to do this setting and other facts about this print. I really enjoy showing this to friends.
Thanks,

Larry,
What you have is the Artist proof of the print. That painting “SPRINGTIME MAJESTY” came out in print around 1993.It was a turkey federation banquet print.The image appeared on the cover of “TURKEY CALL” magazine in 1992 and a black and white version appeared on the cover of POWWOW. This is the quarterly magazine from the Pennsylvania Outdoor Writer’s Association. I don’t know what the value of a print is. Being I am still alive…….! The print is almost sold out. I haven’t pushed it for years, but there are less than 15 prints left. Maybe, I should include it on my site!
I just started to sketch down some ideas and that painting evolved into what it is. I love the look of mayapples around stumps and trees and that, no doubt, helped with that idea.
I thank you for writing and I am certainly happy to hear you are proud of the print.

Hi Larry: I am interested in taking some kids, (ages 9-11) to the petroglyphs at Parker’s Landing. THe kids are great walkers and climbers so I think they can handle the “expedition” with help from 3 other adults. What say you? Secondly, I am not sure what route to follow and thought may be you could help me out. Do you think starting at the bridge in Parker on the Clarion side is the way to go? Do we head N or S? I am figuring it to be about a 2 hour journey…is that a good quess?
Thanks so much for your time and help.
Larry, I’m a Rayburn TWP Supervisor, and I viewed your pics on your asthma walk, I dont believe all that trash dumped in your photos could possibly have been dumped there by ATV riders, but I agree people do destroy and lack respect in todays world, just drive along any of our roads in Armstrong Co. and look at all the trash, people just thow out of the window of the car. Randy Slease
Larry, I guess I did not explain that I now live in Owings Mills, Maryland. I was born in Kittanning township years ago. I do not come back there that often. So I need to purchase your art work via mail or UPS or something like that. Do I send payment to the address listed on your blog using a check or credit card info. What ever is the easiest way to purchase your art. Thank you. Jim Geidel
I really enjoyed your site. I’m from the area and believe we share a lot of interests (outdoors, flintlocks, turkeys and history). I have quite a collection of local artifacts…I’ve been hunting them here for about 10 years. Shoot me an email with your email address and I’ll send some. Also, I’m interested in some of your artwork.
Matthew, Thank you for contacting me. The interests you mentioned are part of what I enjoy in my life. I am glad you enjoy these things too! I can still easily show anyone the first artifact I had found although it is in a case of hundreds! (I often wondered if my dad tossed the arrowhead in front of me….)Again, thank you for your interest. (E-mail coming seperatly)
How have you been? Always knew you loved to paint and you were great at it. Saw your book on Kathy’s desk at work and read it……good read. She turned me on to your site and I have gone through a lot of it. I bet you miss the work days….haha. From what I have seen from your paintings, that should have been your life’s work. If you ever get tired of harvesting all those bucks hit me up. Great web site….keep it going, I enjoy reading all the stories.
Sure is great to hear from you! Thanks so much for the kind compliments. I appreciate them!
I am not going to be able to hunt turkeys, at least, for a few days due to an injury with my left leg. You can’t imagine how that fact is bothering me! I have been on “light duty”. I hope all is well with you and the family.The people are the only aspect of not being at work. I don’t miss the politics. I do miss the many individuals I considered friends, such as yourself, and Kathy. I wish you all the best!
Larry,
I love your Aspen Gold – Elk and would appreciate your directing me to a site where I can view purchase information. Many thanks.

Hi Larry,
First, I want to say … Beautiful artwork on this site! I saw your print “Home to Kit-Han-Ne” at the 2014 Armstrong Folk Festival at the Tourist Bureau Center. I am VERY interested to know what numbered APs you currently have of it.
I am also interested in what AP #s you have of “Springtime Majesty”
Hello Larry,
I always enjoyed your photos on the Armstrong County Tourist Bureau and am a nature lover myself, volunteer at Crooked Creek (monitor and maintain the bluebird boxes, made a birdlist flyer for them with a friend as I belong to a bird club in Indiana) but love all aspects of nature, not just the birds really; I did not realize what a “complete” artist you were til’ I checked out your FB page and your blog (love your faith writings also);
I am a retired Senior Citizen (80 retired from Pitt) who used to live in Penn Hills but when my boys were small we used to camp and fish in many areas of PA (just love our state) so when my husband (their dad) died I moved up on the Kiski River below Leechburg and follow Armstrong County news, etc;
I would appreciate the location you found the coyotes in if you are willing to let me know—we used to have red fox in field behind us (old Parks Dairy Farm) and a few years ago 1 Coyote was seen in that field and I took 1 poor photo of it just for my own recollection; They do have both red and gray fox hang around Crooked Creek but we do not see them anymore near our home;
Thank you so much for your love of nature and all your beautiful artwork;
My email address if you would be so kind as to let me know about your fantastic coyote photo is: matassel@windstream.net
Thanks again for sharing your passion,
Marjorie (Marge)
We love your art! We found your name as we came across a stamp from the NWTF Sixth Grand Slam $5 Stamp. We have been researching it to try and find out who the artist was. We found one website that said it was Larry Amail. However, we can’t find any record of him. Then in searching we found you. Did you do the art for the 1990 NWTF Sixth Grand Slam stamp? The one that we found is signed, but we aren’t sure if the first letter of the last name is an A or S. Thanks so much for your help with this!
Yes I did that stamp for the NWTF. So, many years ago! I think I was 2 at the time. Seriously, I did a cover in the early ninties for the Turkey Call magazine. I did some ink work and even wrote an article in times past. Thanks you both for your interest.
Hi Larry: I was a good friend of Dan Roessener who passed away Jnauary 30th of this year. He had one of your Prints that was a NWTF banquet print in 1993, Springtime Majesty. I am helping his longtime friend Mary Ann with disposing of his print Collection. Can you be of any assistance with this for me. Thank You
Bob, I was at the banquet when those prints were handed out. That painting appeared on the cover of Turkey Call magazine. It appeared on the cover of the Pennsylvania Outdoor Writers’ Association magazine, too. What would Dan want to do with his prints? Knowing Dan he would have, possibly, wished them donated for fundraising events. Some could be worth something to family on a secondary market especially if the print was a sold out print or from a long deceased, and well-known, artist. You may wish to contact some wildlife print distributors to see if they have any interest in purchasing them if you are leaning in that direction. A lot of wildlife groups, as stated, would be happy to have them donated for fund raising events and banquets if that is something of interest. Hope this gives you some thoughts in direction. I miss Dan. He often would give me a rough time with joking around and pranks. We got along quite well. Take care and good luck.

How do I buy a proof of Home to Kit-Han-Ne? Did not see any ordering info on your site?

Hi Larry. I first saw your work on the wall of my “soon to be” wife’s mom’s home. I really like your Blanket Hill piece, and wondered if you still have the original for sale. It would be a nice gift to my fiancĂ© when we marry June 29th. She moved to Connecticut to be with me and a piece from her home would be so welcome on our wall. Thanks!
Mike, Thanks so much for your interest. I replied via e-mail.
