Buyer donated this painting to the Armstrong County Historical and Genealogical Museum in Kittanning, Pennsylvania.

The Prisoner depicts the Delaware warriors returning to their village with results from their raiding expedition. The man will have several options. If he is lucky he may become adopted into the tribe. Ransom may be another option. The third option is death at the stake. A fourth option could be escape, but woe if he is recaptured. What would you do?

(Lenni-Lenape) the facial painting and various adornments of the eastern natives fascinate me and I enjoy painting them. “Blanket Hill Night – September 7, 1756″ depicts a band of Delaware natives around their cooking fire. These Indians were to be attacked by some of Colonel John Armstrong’s men. This attack would leave the soldiers dead, wounded and in complete disarray leaving much of their supplies, including blankets, behind. The actual site (present day- Blanket Hill) is located near my home in Armstrong County, Pennsylvania.

The approaching Armstrong County Pennsylvania Bicentennial (2000) helped to inspire this painting, “Home To Kit-Han-Ne“. The fall of 1755, the Delaware natives, can be viewed returning to their village, Kit-Han-Ne. (Present day Kittanning, PA.) The county decided to publish this painting into a limited edition bicentennial print.

Many years ago, Native Americans of an unknown tribe lived off a site along Redbank Creek. The area is known as “Fishbasket” and is located at the Armstrong and Clarion County, Pennsylvania border. The area has been the site of recent archaeological digs. This painting was featured in the cover of Indian Artifacts magazine.

Archaeologist friends guided me to a site along the Allegheny River known as Parker’s Landing. The many carvings in the rocks completed by an unknown tribe fascinated me. “Parker’s Landing Petroglyphs” depicts people at the site onlooking the majestic river. This painting was publsihed by the Clarion County Historical Society.
