I attended the Memorial day Parade in Elderton, Pennsylvania this morning. However, I attended as a participant. I was asked to accompany my friend, Walt Marr, to walk along with him as we headed the parade.
I dressed in my eighteenth century militia man attire. The look I attain for is that of a militia member prepared to use my smoothbore to protect my family, community, state or nation. In years past others would walk along representing the Civil War, but this year I was alone to protect everybody from incursions by war-like Indians or British Redcoats. Word must have been out for no attacks occurred.
In past years, prior to the Elderton School closings big crowds would join together for Memorial Day events in the school’s gymnasium. This year, as others since the closing, the parade was all that occurred in the quaint little Americana town.
Nice bird on Friday, I expect to see a turkey print made with the truck in background.
I used one like that as a blind down in WVa. West Virginia is the only state I know how
many birds I killed there, 8 is the number because back then you had to take them to
a check station.
I laid my ten gauge across the hood as he came strutting up to me.
Nice pictures dressed a colonial soldier. Does the 2 bars on your 3 corner hat (can’t remember the name)
you are wearing show your rank as a colonel?

Thanks Howard. I agree a painting of that could be a good painting. I’ll think about it. remember I am retired so I haven’t much time anymore. HaHa I am a militia soldier. Remember the militia was, and is, the people ready to defend their families, communities and country from any force foreign or domestic. The tri-corn hat would have, probably, been something the man picked up somewhere. I have a common long hunter hat as well.
They were scared of the famous sharpshooter Larry Small for he is a legand! He’s so fast to Draw and can paint a picture for all to see! If that don’t work he can serenade you til there is no tomorrow!
I had all bases covered!
